Plex 0.8.5 is now available. The new version only nukes bugs founded in 0.8.3, the version that introduced Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard compatibility. Plex app is a sophisticated alternative to Apple’s Front Row similar to Windows Media Center and iTheater, with skinnable and user-configurable interface. Plex bridges the gap between your Mac and your home theater, doing so with a visually appealing user interface that provides instant access to your media.

With Plex.app you can play (from your couch) a wide range of video, audio and photo formats and organize your media into versatile libraries, automatically retrieve metadata from the Internet, and display your libraries using one of the visually stunning skins.

In the beginning of 2009 was introduced the “App Store” with a growing list of plugins for online content like Hulu, Netflix, and CNN video.
